The main goal of this project is to simplify the user experience of the PLP by focusing on the products themselves and making it easier for users to filter their search results. The project aims to reduce clutter and prioritize the most important information on the PLP, while still allowing users to filter their results without distraction. Another key objective of the project is to enhance navigation functionality, enabling users to locate easily the information or products they need.
Traffic
Based on traffic, “Bikes” is the top category visited PLP.
Filters
Navigation and filtering seems to be a user need on PLPs as many users enter the site directly onto these pages.
Interaction
Clicks on Category filter and Top Navigation (Mountain, Road, and Active) are the most interacted with elements on PLP.
Top brands are utilizing content on their product listing pages to share compelling stories, boost user confidence, and simplify the product selection process. These brands prioritize clear navigation on entry PLPs, recognizing that this is often the first page a user encounters. Given the challenges of managing inventory in the bike industry, availability filters are prominently featured or other merchandising tactics are employed to help users make informed choices.
To make the design more effective and user-friendly, I followed a process that included several key steps. First, I took the time to fully understand the problem and the specific requirements of the project. Then, performed research to identify industry benchmarks and best practices. Based on the findings, I generated a range of ideas and translated them into design concepts. Next, I worked the UI design and made a prototype. Finally, A/B testing is conducted to identify any potential issues or areas for improvement.
Reduce PLP Banner
Considering that visitors only scroll through 10% of the PLP, it may be beneficial to reduce the PLP banner size, allowing for greater product visibility.
Reduce Clicks
Merge story and PLP pages to reduce the amount of clicks require to get a rider to the product.
Specific & Visual Filters
Display visual filters at the top of the PLP. Provide more specific and targeted filtering options to narrow down their scroll time in a limited viewport space.
